WebMay 9, 2013 · The III does sound much more "Marshall" than the PV 5150 I & II. But I agree, there is a difference here. Still think checking out the 212 combo is still in order, especially for a guy who is planning on getting an attenuator before he even gets the amp. WebJan 13, 2024 · I could probably pick up a used DSL40c cheaper than one of the DSL40cr’s. I actually just bought a like-new Blackstar HT40 MKII, and it leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn’t sound bad, but it just doesn’t seem to have any presence. It just seems to have this dark, muddled. I’m going for EVH and Nuno tones.

WebDec 19, 2024 · An EVH 5150iii and a Marshall DSL are not worlds apart on the distortion side, up to a certain amount of a gain. EVH has WAY more distortion overall (and a much better clean channel). OP: if you want Marshall but more gainy I would go with one of the new Marshall DSL "R" series amps, or more expensively, the JVM.
WebJan 6, 2024 · I had a MT-15, and it's a wicked little tone beast. That being said, my EVH 50 watt sent it packing. It's got a better master for low volumes, and at higher volumes it's just bigger and badder, plain and simple. The PRS also had a mid hump and lost low end at really high volumes, whereas the EVH gets meaner at volume.
WebJun 13, 2013 · Do you want a Marshall sound or something different? Both amps, especially the Satch model, sound great it's just a matter of taste. That's a great point! The EVH is excellent, but it doesn't exactly sound like a Marshall. That's what my Splawn is for -- at least the Splawn is my idea of Marshall tone with more of the features I like. A Ace.trouble

I found the gain and volume controls to work really well with the JVM at lower volumes. I would go the JVM route personally. jedag jedug full bassWebFeb 10, 2024 · Feb 10, 2024. #7. The 5150 series, all of them are awesome. The new DSL, is probably too much like the old DSL. And if the 40c wasn't your dream amp, the 40cr won't be either. The comparisons of the DSL to ac/dc and hair metal are kinda spot on. I don't own one but that's how I've perceived the Marshalls I do own. laek bad nauheim
